Practice Triathlon

This past Saturday marked the last of our group workouts. We had a practice triathlon in Rock Creek Park. No swimming in the creek, but we started out in wetsuits and went through all our transitions, from swim to bike to run. We leave this Friday and the triathlon is on Sunday.

Cool tattoos

Our teammate Fred has the coolest tattoos. He was nice enough to let me take a picture of the ones on his arms.

Dishi will be only person who appreciates this post. We watch way too much "Miami Ink!"

Thank You!

Binni and I achieved our fundraising goal of $8,400, all due to everyone's amazing generosity again this year. A huge thank you to each of you for your donations! Your money is going to a great organization doing a lot of good. Cards will be in the mail shortly after the race...

Prince William Park

Got in a good bike workout with the team on Saturday at Prince William Park in Virginia. This is definitely a good place to go for hill workouts, as there are quite a few in the loop around the park. The hills surprised a lot of our teammates, as we've only been riding flat courses this season, but Binni and I knew what to expect, as we had been here before as part of Tahoe training (which was just the beginning for that season-- we later ended up riding up and down every mountain in Virginia, including Mount Weather). The bike ride was followed up by a 20' run and then a picnic. Next week, a practice triathlon on Saturday and the GW Parkway 10 miler on Sunday...

Two weeks to go...

It's only about two more weeks to the triathlon!

I would also like to take the opportunity to reply to the 'complained the entire time' comment in the post below about the 10-miler. This didn't happen. I think I said something at mile 8 which was the opposite of "Yeah! I feel great!", but that was about it.

Also, spotted about that time during the race was the Hash House Harriers, which a co-worker of mine is in. I can't really explain what they are about, but they were there passing out beers to the runners at mile 8. I would've grabbed one, but I was on the opposite side of the street :)

A half-marathon on the horizon?

Chris survived the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler last weekend...barely. He finished the race in 1 hour 41 minutes and 3 seconds and complained the entire time. But guess what, a half marathon is in Chris's future.

Here's an e-mail Chris sent to me on April 3:

Subject: Half Marathon
"I'm going to do one. Virginia Beach Rock n' Roll or Baltimore (Oct) maybe?"
