Tour de Tucson

Ok, so it's more or less official that Binni and I will both be captains for TNT's participation in the Tour de Tucson, a 110 mile race in November. Since it's the 25th running of this race, they are expecting over 10,000 entrants! Kick-off for training will be in August. The picture above shows one of the dry river bed crossings on the route.
Rockville Twilighter 8K

This is a fun race that we've both done before. It starts at 8:45pm, which is great for us non-morning people (me). Which reminds me, there was a pretty funny cartoon in the New Yorker the other week listing the "7 Deadly Virtues". One was "Morning Perkiness".
They have a decent post-race party in the new Rockville Town Center too. No free pizza this time, though, just free Miller Ultra-Light.
Before the big race...

Philly Women's Triathlon - Results
The results of the Philly Women's Triathlon (750m swim, 17.1 mile bike, 5K run) are in.
Bib# - 214, Place - 334, Rank - 519
Swim - 17:24 minutes

Transition 1 (from swim to bike)- 3:58 minutes (what was I doing for 4 minutes??)
Bike - 56:17 minutes (the mostly flat course was two 8.5 miles loops along the river, around the art museum and back to the start)
Transition 2 (from bike to run, not pictured) - 1:47 minutes (that's better!)
Run - 26:42 minutes (Pace - 8:37 minutes/mile)

Final time - 1 hour, 48 minutes, and 7 seconds...And let's not forget that I got my first penalty at this race. 2 minutes for drafting. Oops.

My sister and Chris were there to cheer me on and take pictures. I know watching an endurance event is one of the most boring things ever, but I was glad that they were there.

Philadelphia Women's Triathlon/Duathlon
We're going to Philadelphia this weekend for the Philly's Women's Triathlon/Duathlon. Of course, I've signed up for the tri. It's a sprint distance...750m swim, 17 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. The swim is in the Schuykill River and the bike and run are along the river and around the art museum area which will be cool.I'm hoping for calm waters (no storms, please), water temps cool enough to allow us to wear wetsuits, and lots of spectators.
